Van de Beek Joins Manchester United

Manchester United have announced the signing of Donny Van de Beek from Ajax for a fee of €39m, with a further €5m add ons.

The 23-year-old midfielder signed a five-year deal with an option for a further year and becomes United’s first signing of the summer window.

Manchester United’s midfield position would be challenging to Van de Beek as he faces a keen contest with Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Jesse Lingard and Scott McTominay.

In an interview with the club’s official website, Van de Beek said: “I cannot begin to explain how incredible an opportunity it is to join a club with such an amazing history. I would like to thank everyone at Ajax. I grew up there and I will always have a special bond with the club”.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s is delighted with his new signing as he said, “Donny has all of the technical attributes needed to perform in this team and has the personality required to succeed at Manchester United”.

Van de Beek’s impressive performance with Ajax attracted a lot of offers from European clubs including Real Madrid.
