Roma keen on signing Chris Smalling

Roma have reportedly express their interest in permanently signing Chris Smalling for a reported fee of €12 million.

The 30-year-old defender spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Stadio Olimpico.

The England international was able to successfully impressive Roma during his loan spell and Roma are now keen to put a permanent deal in place.

The Italian side have started negotiation with Manchester United in permanently securing the defender.

However, United Boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has widely opened the door to Smalling as he hope to fit in his plans.

“I think Chris has shown over his career how valuable he is for Man United. This season was about him being a regular, going to Roma, showing and proving how good a centre-back he is” – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
