NBA legend , Bill Russell passed on last Sunday

An American Professional basketball player William Felton Russel, popularly known as Bill Russell played as centre for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association in his 13 years with the team from 1956 to 1969 passed away last Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 88.

Former Boston Celtics icon Bill Russell, one of the NBA veteran served as the anchor of a team that won NBA Championships and league and became the first black coach in history.

The NBA greatest winner died peacefully with his wife Jeannine, by his side.

He’s a five-most valuable player (MVP) and 12-time NBA all-star. Russell was named to be the greatest basketball player of all time.

Celtic stated that “To be the greatest champion in your sport, to revolutionise the way the game is played, and to be a societal leader all at once seems unthinkable, but that is who Bill Russell was.”
